Controversial Question #1 – What does it mean to be human?
Being human is putting yourself in a position where you know you’re truly being yourself. It’s sort of like being a savage at times but being an educated individual more often. For instance, before laws were created by humans in civilizations, individuals used to act and do things based on their instincts whether it was right or wrong. Nowadays we have laws, religions, cultures etc that educates us but we still have instincts and even though those differentiate us we will still show empathy. The definition of being has Human can be interpreted by different terms and depending on the individuals identifying it. The definition of Human, is a species who share resources to survive collectively, develop a fast way to adapt into an environment, to be human is indeed to care about reputation and self-focused. My way of defining what a human is compared similarly to the article of Philippe Rohology, Emory Universitychat Department of Psyc:What does it mean to be human?. These articles bring back my idea that we are evolved from primates having their instincts yet as individuals,we developed our way of living making differences between humans and other species. Rohology says that”The causes are cultural and come primarily from the reverberating effect of co-evolution whereby invention and transformation of the environment are constantly re-defining the human niche in a cumulative and exponential fashion’’in other words saying that humans evolve and can’t define by a single evolution since they transform the environment(niche) they’re in and developing it for them to benefit.
Controversial Question #2 – What is human responsibility to the planet?
As humans I think we owe many responsibilities to the planet because it has been home for our ancestors, our generations and will be, hopefully, to the future generations. As humans, we contribute a lot to society yet we also think about ourselves and our benefits of it. As we have evolved, we use the natural resources from the planet to have an accommodated life and succeed. For instance, cutting down trees benefits us because we can build a building or to start a fire for heat etc, but we don’t realize that we are in reality cutting down the amount of clean and natural oxygen for us to breathe and remain in good health. The same happens to the negative relationship we have with animals, they as well see the planet as their home too and simply because we as humans have invented tools or have the instinct of being carnivores doesn’t give us the right to kill animals for our benefit of having a ’’good meal’’. We have to take care of the planet, we are responsible for making sure we don’t litter in environments we know can have a negative affect to the world. Yes, technology and human minds are growing at a fast rate, that it is destroying our home planet, slowly and if we continue to do so, we won’t be able to control the consequences regardless of anything. Most of my ideas generally relate to the topics that Greta Thungberg said in her speech about climate change, the consequences and roles that us as humans can do now to prevent furthermore a nature catastrophe that will destroy everyone’s home regardless of what culture you have or country you live in because the planet is everyone’s home
